Fishing Lab
**Did anyone in your group take too many fish? How did that make you feel? Did everyone try to take as many as possible? Why or why not? Does society reward those with the "most"?
Yes, and that made me feel terrible after I realized what I was supposed to do, because it was me. Also yes everyone did try to get as many as possible because we were thinking only about getting the money to survive. some how yes, but again NO because what seems big now is nothing or none later.
*Did anyone sacrifice the # of fish, for the good of the community? Why or why not? Does society ever reward that type of person?
NO, because everybody was thinking about the present and not the future. Society might reward that person or just use them, but nature definitely will.
*In game two how did your strategy change, if at all? Does it make a difference to know what the rewards are?
we didn't have a second chance because we finished all the fishes in the first round, but if we had a second chance I'm sure we would've done different.
*Is it possible to maximize the number of fish caught per person and the number of fish remaining in the pond at the same time? Why or Why not?
No because when the number of fish caught increases, the number of fish in the lake decreases, and creates imbalance between nature and human beings.
*what are some natural resources that are wcommon resources?
Water/ocean, Air, sun, wind
*what are the global commons? Are they being used wisely?why or why not?
Air, water/ocean, No because people take them for granted and don't watch their action not to pollute them while the should.
*What can people do to use these resources more wisely?
Minimize things that pollute, for instance instead of throwing away plastic and aluminum cans we can recycle them
*Did a particular type of fish disappear faster than others? How does this relate to economically valuable species in nature and their extinction rates?
Yes, the golden fish because it was worth more than the others. Economically valuable species are worth more money and value so people want to get them first and without thinking further people get rid of them fast so their extinction rate is high.
Post Lab:
The purpose of this stimulation was to notify and inform people their positive and negative impact on the environment as well as to teach us what we could gain and lose because of out impact also how to take care of it rather than wasting it or spending it only on your self by being selfish. During the activity surprisingly most of us were thinking about our selves or weren't thinking at all. because if so many groups would have passed to part two of the assignment. I learned that human beings and nature have this connection but we people intend to use it all by our selves and abuse nature, for a fact later on we're gonna need them anyway, so why abuse nature now, while we can take care of it.
