The article Craaack! Spliiiit! talks about an iceberg almost as big as the city Singapore, to be accurate 21 by 12 miles drifting away. It's concern with environmental science is global warming, most of these type of things happen due to that. Even though the incident is a huge one, it's not the first or the recent one because in July the same thing happened. The most likely reason for the incident is said to be 9Relatively warm water, to be exact, circulating under the ice shelf at the end of the Pine Island Glacier. NASA is doing more research and installed sensors that monitor temperature salinity and other factors. Due to the study. The ice shelf at the end of the glacier buttresses the river of ice, slowing its flow to ocean. Winds blow, allowing warm water to well up. And when it's flowing under side of the shelf, it allows glacier to flow faster.
The reason I chose this topic is because when I read the title I thought the cause would be some human made thing or it would be a consequence of human activity's wrong doing but I found interesting because it wasn't what I had expected. The reason wasn't directly what I expected, it was a natural still to be discovered.
In my opinion I think NASA should research more and study the exact cause so that we'll have the technology either to prevent it or to minimize the damage done.
